Taxiwaala Delayed Due To Graphics Work, Says Director Rahul Sankrityan

The director of Taxiwaala, Rahul Sankrityan recently announced that the film starring Vijay Deverakonda was delayed due to the graphics work. Pegged to be a supernatural thriller, the film was earlier set to release in May but got delayed due to various reasons, prompting the director to issue a statement.

Sankrityan posted, “Taxiwaala release date will be announced shortly through the official sources. True that the delay is because of graphics work and some other factors. But so far not even a single shot of Taxiwaala has been re-shot. News about re-shoots and all other rumours are not true. Output has come out kickass and whole team is proud of it. Also don’t watch or share any leaked portions of the movie and don’t land yourself in trouble. Don’t miss the magic what 24 crafts can create on a big screen. It’s just the matter of time. Thanks for waiting.”

The director’s statement comes after footage of Taxiwaala and Geetha Govindam – another Deverakonda film that released on August 15 – were leaked online. The cyber police had arrested a man from Hyderabad who worked for a  firm associated with the Telugu film industry. Following the leak, rumours started circulating that Taxiwaala was delayed because the director had to re-shoot key portions of the film.

Following the leak, Srinivas Kumar Naidu, the producer of Taxiwaala, had warned in a tweet that people circulating pirated clips of films on social media will be tracked down, booked and punished according to law.

Deverakonda rose to fame with Pelli Choopulu which won the National Awards for the Best Feature in Telugu and for the Best Screenplay. The actor’s big break came with the release of Arjun Reddy – which is now being remade in Hindi and Tamil. The actor is currently basking in the success of  the romantic comedy Geetha Govinadam – his major release after Arjun Reddy. He also had a supporting role in Mahanati – the biopic on the yesteryear actress Savitri. The actor will also be seen in Tamil-Telugu bilingual NOTA directed by Seenu and a film titled Dear Comrade.
