Tamil Twitter has unleashed a meme fest as they #Pray_For_Neasamani, making it the topmost trending hashtag this morning. The latest news is that Vadivelu responded saying, “The love that characters like Neasamani receive is a God-given gift to me.”
It all began when a Pakistani meme page called Civil Engineering Learners posted a picture of a hammer yesterday, and asked, “What is the name of this tool in your country?” A Vadivelu fan explained that it is called a Suthiyal and it injured Contractor Neasamani in Friends when one of his assistants, Krishnamoorthi, played by Ramesh Khanna, dropped a hammer on his head by mistake. The 2001 film, which was a remake of the Malayalam movie of the same name, starred Vijay, Suriya, Devayani and others.
Another user asked, “Is he ok now?” and this snowballed into the hashtags #Pray_For_Neasamani, #Justice_For_Neasamani and more.

Apollo Hospital and former AIADMK spokesperson CR Saraswati were pulled in to give regular updates on his health condition. Memes showed celebrities such as Suriya, Vijayakanth, Sarathkumar and Justin Bieber and leaders such as Narendra Modi and Donald Trump visiting Neasamani and praying for his recovery. The tag also took a dig at AIADMK and Modi, and was trending in the comments section of several leaders’ Twitter handles.
