Telugu Actor J V Ramana Murthy Dies at 83

Veteran Telugu actor J V Ramana Murthy passed away on Wednesday at a hospital in Hyderabad, where he was undergoing treatment for heart related ailments. He was 83. Ramana Murthy started his career in theatre and got his first break in cinema through the film M.L.A in the year 1957. He is still remembered for playing Girisam in the cult play, Kanyasulkam. His older brother J V Somayajulu is also a well-known actor, best known for his performance in the film Sankarabharanam.

Ramanamurthy was seen mainly in fatherly roles or as temple priests. He then went on to act in more substantial roles in over 100 films including Maro Charitra, Aakali Rajyam, Batasaari, Gorintaku, Shubalekha and Ananda Bhairavi.
