Director Jayam Raja’s Thani Oruvan has successfully entered its fourth week, with a high theatre occupancy rate. The latest reports say that the box office collections of Thani Oruvan has equalled collections of SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali in Tamil Nadu. Yesterday, at the press meet of Tharkappu, Ganesh, theatre owner of Kamala Cinemas, revealed this news, and assured that the film would surpass Baahubali’s records soon.
S Rajamouli’s Baahubali, which hit the screens on July 10, set a giant record of box-office collections in all the four languages. Actor Jayam Ravi, who was at the audio launch, was proud and visibly happy about the news.
Thani Oruvan is director Raja’s first non-remake film. Raja has made 5 commercially-successful remake films in Tamil. Now, many are vying for Thani Oruvan’s remake rights in five different languages.
