Thirappu Vizha – a film on the TASMAC protests, will soon get a release date. Directed by Veeramani, a former associate of Singam fame Hari, the film has Koothu-p-pattarai trained Jaya Anand as the male lead.
In an interview with Deccan Chronicle, the director said, “The movie touches upon the topical issue of people protesting against the opening of Tasmac shops across various districts. I have also added a few real protest shots in the movie.”
The film stars former child artiste Manishajith who now goes by the name Rehana. The actress as an adult has starred in Kamar Kattu, Nanbargal Gavanathirkku and Vindhai. Newcomer Jaya Anandh plays the male lead.
The film was scheduled to release back in 2013. It was in developmental hell for a while, before being revived last year.
