The year 2017 ended with women in Hollywood coming forward and sharing their stories of sexual harassment and abuse and propelled the #MeToo campaign where women from all walks of life came forward to share their tales of combating harassment, abuse, sexism and misogyny in all forms. But the fight has not ended here.
Over 300 women in Hollywood have supported a campaign Time’s Up that seeks equal representation and opportunities, pay parity, and to fight sexual harassment. Hollywood A-listers like Gal Gadot, Kerry Washington, Ashley Judd, Reese Witherspoon, Brie Larson, Jennifer Lawrence, Natalie Portman and many more have joined the campaign.
In an open letter to The New York Times, this group of women stated that the action that needs to be taken to fight against sexual harassment and for gender parity.
According to AFP, “Time’s Up has established a legal defense fund that, in just 12 days, has raised $13.4 million toward a $15 million goal aimed at providing legal aid for women and men who were sexually harassed, assaulted or abused in the workplace.”
