According to the news report, Mehreen was traveling to the US to meet her family after wrapping up the shoot of her Telugu film Pantham. At the airport, she was questioned by the US officials, after they came to know that she was a Telugu actress.

She was quoted as saying, “I am shocked. It was so embarrassing. I was constantly travelling and wasn’t aware of the emergence of news regarding such illegitimate activities. When I revealed that I was a Telugu actress, I was questioned for 30 minutes.”

The officials, however, apologized to the actress and told her that they were investigating a sex racket and were questioning whoever is travelling to the US from the Telugu film industry.

Later, the actress posted a statement on social media calling the report fake and asserted that she did not speak to any media organisation. She further added that she shared a very good rapport with the media and requested them not to carry any stories without verifying with her.

Last month, Kishan and his wife Chandra Kala Modugumudi were arrested for allegedly running an organized prostitution racket involving Tollywood actresses and Telugu NRIs in the US. The couple was Hyderabad-based before they moved to the US. Kishan Modugumudi had co-produced several Telugu films and after shifting to the US, they maintained their contacts with the secretaries and managers of the stars and film journalists. It has been reported that they have been running the sex racket for the last four to five years.
