The trailer of Athiyan Athirai’s directorial debut, Irandam Ulagaporin Kadaisi Gundu is out now. Speaking to Silverscreen, recently, Athiyan had said that when he was disillusioned with cinema he left tinsel town to go work in an iron scrap store. Dinesh’s character in this film too works in one. The trailer of Gundu is narrated in the traditional Tamil folk style and showcases the life and struggles of those working in the iron scrap store as well as the laughter and love in Dinesh’s life… until it is all shaken by the arrival of a ‘gundu’ (bomb). The narrator suggests that the hero is yanked out of the mundane and is tasked with a larger purpose of saving people from unforeseen danger.

The film, the director told Silverscreen, talks about the ill effects of bombs and the importance of love. Gundu is bankrolled by Pa. Ranjith’s Neelam Productions that previously produced Maari Selvaraj’s critically acclaimed Pariyerum Perumal.
