Saamy had become one of the highest grossing Tamil films of 2003. The film is about the story of an honest yet foul-mouthed cop DCP Aarusaamy played by Vikram. The film was lauded for its fast-paced narrative and the chemistry between the lead pair (Vikram and Trisha), which paved way for their second film together Bheema.
Saamy was also remade in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Bengali.
Director Hari, who is currently celebrating the success of his recent film – Si 3 – starring Suriya, will direct this one too, with music by Harris Jayaraj again.
Meanwhile, Vikram is currently shooting for his next film – Dhruvanatchathiram – directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon. Trisha also has Garjanai in the pipeline, a thriller directed by Sundar Balu and starring Vamsi Krishna.
