Tumhari Sulu Tamil Remake Has Been Titled Kaatrin Mozhi, Stars Jyothika & Vidaarth

The Tamil remake of the Hindi film Tumhari Sulu has been titled Kaatrin Mozhi, directed by Radha Mohan who, incidentally, last directed Jyothika in his film Mozhi (2007).

The title was announced on Thursday evening, with lyricist Madhan Karky taking to Twitter and expressing his gratitude over having one of his favourite songs by his father, Vairamuthu, as the film’s title.

The Tamil remake rights have been bought by BOFTA Media Works India, which is currently producing Mr. Chandramouli, starring Karthik, Gautham Karthik, Regina Cassandra, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and others, directed by Thiru.

Vidaarth, who last starred in Oru Kidaiyin Manu and Kurangu Bommai, will reprise Manav Kaul’s role from the original film.

In an exclusive interview with Silverscreen, director Radha Mohan, talked about the remake, that there’s a lot of positivity surrounds the project. “Everything just fell into place. There’s a lot of positivity around this project; everyone has had only kind things to say,” explained the director. “Casting is very important for a film such as this, and I’m going to take my time. I don’t want to mis-cast even one role, because it is a performance-oriented film,” he added.

Apart from the addition of Lakshmi Manchu, who will play Neha Dhupia’s role from the original, details about the rest of the cast and crew will be shared over time. Tumhari Sulu released last year on November 17. The film is about a middle-class woman, who takes up the job of a late night radio jockey. Helmed by Suresh Triveni, the film was produced under the T-Series and Ellipsis Entertainment banners.
