Actor-producer Udhayanidhi Stalin might file a case against the Tax Exemption Committee of Tamil Nadu for denying tax exemption for his recent film, Gethu, says a TOI report.
According to the Tamil Nadu government rules, only those movies with a Tamil title are eligible for a tax exemption. The committee refused to give tax exemption to Gethu, claiming that it was not a proper Tamil title. Disagreeing with the committee’s report, Udhayanidhi posted the meaning of Gethu on his Twitter account:

Udhayanidhi Stalin’s father MK Stalin is a top leader of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), the arch rival of the ruling AIADMK party. Udhayanidhi alleges that the denial of tax exemption for his movies is an act of political vendetta. His production banner, reportedly, has faced a considerable amount of loss due to this. After the release of his previous film Nanbenda, Stalin had filed an appeal at the Supreme Court with regard to this issue. Santhanam’s Inimey Ippadithaan was distributed by Udhayanidhi’s Red Giant Movies, and the team had kept it as a secret until the last moment. The name of the banner was added to the film’s posters only after they got the censor certificate and tax exemption certificate.
