Unpaused: Amazon Prime Video Announces Its First Hindi Anthology Film

Amazon Prime Video on Wednesday announced its first Hindi anthology film titled Unpaused, along with an official teaser. It is helmed by five directors- Raj & DK, Nikkhil Advani, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Avinash Arun, and Nitya Mehra.

The teaser begins with news being read about the ‘Janta Curfew’ that was declared by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 22, and was the precursor to the 21-day lockdown imposed to control the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country. The film seems to share a resemblance with Amazon Prime Video’s earlier release from this year, the Tamil anthology film Putham Pudhu Kaalai.

The two films share similar themes of hope, second chances, and new beginnings. However, while Putham Pudhu Kaalai was shot entirely indoors, Unpaused has been shot outdoors as well.

Putham Pudhu Kaalai was an anthology of five short films directed by Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Sudha Kongara, Karthik Subbaraj and Rajiv Menon, and released on Amazon Prime Video on October 16.

Talking about Unpaused, Aparna Purohit, head of India originals, Amazon Prime Video, said: “The union of such creative forces during these unprecedented times is testament to the fact that art will always find expression, even in the most challenging times.”

She added, “These stories are a reminder that there is hope at the end of a dark tunnel and chance for us to embark on new beginnings.”
