The latest to join Balaji Mohan’s sequel to his 2015 film is Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. The director took to Twitter to make the announcement, a new addition to his ensemble cast.

The actress also appears to be quite excited to be a part of the film that stars Dhanush in the lead.

On Christmas Day, it was announced that Yuvan Shankar Raja will score the music for Maari 2. The music composer will be collaborating with Dhanush after almost a decade, the last two films being Parattai Engira Azhagu Sundaram (2007) and Yaaradi Nee Mohini (2008).
In Maari 2, Dhanush reprises his role of the eccentric local gangster. Sai Pallavi will essay the female lead, taking over from Kajal Aggarwal. The film will be shot simultaneously in Telugu as well as Tamil. Much of the original cast is returning for the sequel, with another addition being Malayalam star Tovino Thomas, known for his roles in films such as Oru Mexican Aparatha, Godha and Ezra, who will play the villain in this film.
The film is being bankrolled by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films.
