RedditWhatsapp

Varalaxmi Sarathkumar has completed shooting for Sandakozhi 2 that stars Vishal Krishna, Keerthy Suresh and is directed by Lingusamy.

Taking to social media, Vishal Krishna thanked his co-star and said that the film is in its final stage of production.

The tweet caught a lot of attention, including from Arya, who joked if Vishal’s tweet was actually from Varalaxmi.

Soon enough Jayam Ravi chimed in:

Vishal joined the banter and replied in all sincerity that the tweet indeed came from him.

The film is a sequel to Lingusamy’s 2005 blockbuster, Sandakozhi. Produced under the Vishal Film Factory banner, reports suggest that the team plans on wrapping up the film by August 18. The team that is currently shooting in Madurai is expected to come back to Chennai and finish the post production work. Music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The film also stars Keerthy Suresh and Rajkiran in the lead roles. Meera Jasmine has reportedly a cameo in the film, she was also a part of the original.

The project was initially announced in 2015, but was dropped later. Vishal blamed it on Lingusamy’s lack of commitment. It was only in 2017 that the film production began in earnest.

Actors Manjima Mohan, Akshara Haasan were all considered for the role of the female lead in Sandakozhi 2 before Keerthy Suresh stepped in. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar has a major role in this project.

The film is slated to release on October 18 as part of the festival releases.

On the work front, Varalaxmi has Echarikkai, directed by Sarjun. The trailer was released recently and the film will be releasing later this month (August 24). She also has Kanni Rasi, Velvet Nagaram, Ammayi, Madha Gaja Raja with Vishal, Sarkar and Neeya 2.

Meanwhile, Vishal is reportedly planning to remake the Telugu hit Temper that starred Junior NTR. The Tamil version will be majorly tweaked and will be directed by P.S. Mithran.
