‘Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu’ is the Title of Silambarasan & Gautham Menon’s Next; Shooting for the Action Drama Commences in Thiruchendur

Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu is the title of actor Silambarasan’s upcoming Tamil film directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, the makers of the film, Vels Film International, announced while releasing the film’s first look poster on Friday.

Earlier, in February, a collaboration of Silambarasan and Menon was announced under the Vels Film International banner with the title Nadhigalilae Neeradum Suriyan. However, the actor took to social media on Thursday and said that his 47th film directed by Menon would be revealed with a new title and a first look poster the following day.

Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu is produced by Ishari K Ganesh with Ashwin Kumar on board as executive producer.

Speaking to Silverscreen India, Ashwin Kumar clarified that Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu is a new film with a new script written by Jeyamohan.

“We have started the film’s shooting today (Friday) in Thiruchendur with Silambarasan. It is an action drama film and we plan to also shoot in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Vishakapatnam, and Chennai,” he said, adding that there are plans to make this film in Telugu as well.

Ashwin also noted that an announcement about the rest of the cast will be made in the coming days.

The film’s music will be composed by AR Rahman, marking his third collaboration with Silambarasan and Menon after Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa in 2010 and Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada in 2016. The lyrics will be written by Thamarai

The technical crew of Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu also includes cinematographer Siddhartha Nuni, editor Anthony, costume designer Uthra Menon, and art director Rajeevan. 

Menon and Silambarasan last worked together on Karthik Dial Seytha Yenn, a short film which served as an epilogue of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa.

Menon is currently also working on another film for Vels Film International, a Tamil action thriller titled Joshua Imai Pol Kaakha. The filmmaker had previously collaborated with the production house on the Tamil romantic anthology, Kutty Story, that was released in theatres on February 12.

Silambarasan, on the other hand, has several films in the pipeline, including Maanaadu, Paththu Thala, and Maha.
