Twelve deleted scenes from director Venkat Prabhu’s Chennai 28 II were released today in a 20-minute long video, posted on Prabhu’s production channel BlackTicket Company. The film opened earlier this month to critical acclaim as well as box-office success. A sequel to the coming-of-age sports drama Chennai 28 (2007), the sequel featured an ensemble cast of ‘Mirchi’ Shiva, Premgi, Vaibhav, Nithin Sathya, and Vijaylakshmi. The casting marked a return of the original cast, who were now playing the grown up version of their boyhood characters.
Coincidentally, Kabali producer Kalaipuli S Thanu has announced that deleted scenes from Kabali will also be released tonight.
Chennai 28 2 is a sports-comedy with music by Yuvan Shankar Raja and edited by KL Praveen. The first film Chennai 28 was also Vikram Prabhu’s debut directorial. For the sequel, Vikram Prabhu had roped in five directors to shoot the climax scene.
