A film produced by K Balachander that saw Rajinikanth play the dual roles of father and son lends its title to Nayanthara’s 65th outing as an actor. She has started work on Netrikann, directed by Milind Rau, and produced by her partner director Vignesh Shivan’s Rowdy Pictures. Work on the movie began on Sunday with a simple ceremony.
Vignesh Shivan took to Twitter yesterday to share the news.

“We as an entire team owe a lot to Superstar Rajinikanth sir, late director K Balachandar Sir and Mrs. Pushpa of Kavithalaya Productions for giving us the title “Netrikann”. Milind’s script is an interesting & intriguing thriller. Just like his previous film, this will also be entertaining for the audience” said Vignesh Shivan in a press release.
Milind’s previous film was the atmospheric thriller Aval, produced and co-written by actor Siddharth. Karthik Ganesh N will handle the camera for Netrikann, S Kamalanathan will be in charge of art and C Mahesh will choreograph the action sequences. While the rest of the cast is yet to be finalised, the technical crew includes Lawrence Kishore (editor), Naveen Sundaramoorthy (dialogues) and Chaitanya Rao and Dinesh Manoharan (styling and costumes).
Meanwhile, Nayanthara has Bigil co-starring actor Vijay, and the multilingual Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, starring Chiranjeevi, Vijay Sethupathi, Sudeep and Amitabh Bachchan, among others, for release in October. She is also a part of AR Murugadoss’ Darbar starring Superstar Rajinikanth, which recently released its second-look poster. Her recent Malayalam commercial flick Love Action Drama, co-starring Nivin Pauly, is also being received well.
