Actor Vijay and director Murugadoss have been asked to appear before the Tanjore High Court on October 15, in a case related to the duo’s film Kaththi, which was released last year.
Anbu Rajeshekar an MCA graduate from Tanjore, has filed a case alleging that the basic plot of ‘Kaththi’ was taken from his short film, ‘Thaaga Bhoomi’, without obtaining his consent. The case has been filed against the film’s hero Vijay, director Murugadoss, producers Karunakaran and Subashkaran, cinematographer George.C.Williams and executive producer Neelakanda Narayanapur.
It must be noted that right after the release of the film last year, Minjur Gopi, an assistant director, had claimed that the basic premise of Kaththi was his idea, and was taken and used by Murugadoss without his permission. The issue subsided after Gopi retracted his claims.
