For Vijay Sethupathi, praise from the Working Journalists Union about his film Kavan, which is themed around paid news, means more than awards.
Speaking to Silverscreeen at an event organised by the Union to honour the film’s director KV Anand, Sethupathi said, “I am extremely happy about this. We made a film that took a hard look at paid media and biased journalism. So when people who belong to the industry give the film their approval, it means a lot. I like these moments more than the award functions in a way. I am most thankful to everybody for appreciating the film the way they did.”
The event was held earlier this week. Anand took to Twitter to share the news:

Vijay Sethupathi also said that he hopes to make similar message-oriented films in the future. He said, “I have been here for about five years now. I feel that I must use my platform to do what I can to society. To this end, I have zeroed in on a few scripts for me to act in and some for me to produce. In my own way, I want to give back to the people.”
