Actor Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menen have teamed up for an upcoming Malayalam film, directed by debutant Indu VS. According to the director, who also wrote the script, the film will go on floors soon, she said in a conversation with The Times of India recently.
Even though the shooting was initially planned to start earlier this year, it got delayed due to the Covid-19-related lockdown. In her interview with the daily, the director confirmed that both the actors had come on board the project last year itself and said, “It has been almost one and half years since Vijay Sethupathi heard the narration and signed the film. Nithya too agreed to be part of it last year. In fact, the movie was supposed to begin earlier this year and we would have finished the shoot, if not for the pandemic.”
The shooting will take place entirely in Kerala. “Until October 30, Kerala has a restriction that we can only shoot indoor scenes, so we are starting out with those sequences,” she said.
Indu has earlier worked with the National Award-winning filmmaker Salim Ahamed in films like Kunjananthante Kada, Aaminte Makan Abu and Pathemari.
The untitled film will mark Menen’s 21st Malayalam project.
Talking about her character, Menen said: “What I liked about the film was that it was right up my alley; it’s the kind of genre that I am fond of. The characters are very real and the whole story is exciting. Even Vijay Sethupathi’s role is interesting; it’s a nice and mysterious character. I play a simple girl who leads a boring life but her life changes dramatically through his character.”
