Pre production work for Thalapathy 63, directed by Atlee and starring Vijay and Nayanthara in the lead is on full swing. The latest update, as per a report in the Tamil Hindu says that the actor is being trained by a special physical trainer, to better fit his role. Rumors say that the Vijay will be playing a sports coach in the film.
While the set works for the film has already began with a pooja at Binny Mills, Perambur, the film is said to go on floors on January 21, with the pooja on the previous day. It is expected that the first schedule will be began in Chennai. Reports also suggest that, like Mersal and Sarkar, the current film will also be a Diwali release.
Recently, it was reported that 16 new actresses have been signed on for the film which is said to be a sports drama, with Vijay playing coach. The report also adds that special training has been imparted to the actresses to perform the sport scenes. However, there has been no official confirmation from the makers about the casting.

With Nayanthara playing the female lead, Thalapathy 63 is said to be a crime-thriller, and is Vijay and Atlee’s third project together after Theri(2016) and Mersal (2017). Producer Archana Kalpathy will bankroll this project under the banner AGS Entertainment, and as with Mersal, AR Rahman will compose music with lyrics penned by Vivek. GK Vishnu will be the cinematographer.
According to a report, actor-comedian Yogi Babu is the latest addition to the film’s cast, but there has been no official confirmation on this either. As for the rest of the crew, Atlee has chosen the Mersal team, including editor Antony Ruben, stunt director Anal Arasu and art director Muthuraj.
Sources suggest that Aalaporaan Tamizhan, a song from Mersal, is the title being considered.
