Vinci Da the Bengali crime thriller helmed by Srijit Mukherji, will soon be remade in Tamil. The Tamil remake rights have been bagged by producer G Dhananjayan, whose upcoming films include Kapatadhaari.
Dhananjayan took to Twitter on Wednesday to make the announcement. Bankrolled under Creative Entertainers, the film will be directed by Ram. Dhananjayan and Ram have both worked on the screenplay for the Tamil remake.

SVF Productions Pvt Ltd, producer of Vinci Da, said that while the copyrights were sold last year, the official announcement was made only now. Director Mukherjee said that there were talks of the movie being remade in Malayalam and Marathi.
Vinci Da marks Mukherjee’s fourth film being remade in another language. Previously, the copyrights of his debut film Autograph (2010) was sold for a Malayalam remake, followed by his 2012 release Hemlock Society that was remade in Marathi titled Welcome Zindagi (2015). His 2015 release Rajkahini was remade into Hindi titled Begum Jaan in 2017.
Recently, Vinci Da won the Best Story award at the 21st Rainbow Film Festival held in London. Prior to this, the film had been to the Asian Film Festival in Barcelona, Dhaka International Film Festival, London Indian Film Festival, and also nominated for the Asia Pacific Screen Awards.

Dhananjay’s last production was Kaatrin Mozhi (2018) starring Jyothika Saravanan which was the remake of 2017 Hindi release Tumhari Sulu that starred Vidya Balan in the lead. The producer is awaiting the release of the Tamil neo-noir thriller Kabadadaari starring Sibi Sathyaraj, which is simultaneously shot in Telugu and titled Kapatadhaari starring Sumanth and Nandita Swetha.
