Actors Vishal, Karthi and Nasser have filed a petition at Madras High Court seeking to postpone the South India Film Artistes Association elections. Usually, the elections are held on an industry holiday – the second Sunday of a month – to facilitate voting. But this time, the petition alleges, the elections have been scheduled on a Wednesday – July 15, 2015.
The petition also requests the appointment of two retired judges to monitor the election process.

Vishal, Karthi and Nasser head a group of actors that are challenging the current group led by R Sarath Kumar that is in power at the Association. The lawsuit follows behind several very public disagreements between the two groups. Actor Sarath Kumar, Radha Ravi and KN Kaalai will likely contest the elections to keep their current positions; it is unclear who the challengers will nominate to take them on.
