As news of a raid at Vishal’s office by GST Intelligence Agency took Twitter by storm yesterday, the spokesperson for the actor dismissed the reports on his social media account. While the officials were indeed present at Vishal’s office, it was for a routine inspection and not for a raid as reported by the media. he said. Also, Vishal told Silverscreen, “Raid was a rumour. It was a routine TDS filing.”

The supposed raid took on greater significance as it came just a day after Vishal attacked H Raja for revealing that he watched a pirated version of Mersal. H Raja is a BJP leader from Tamil Nadu, and has been very vocal in his criticism of Vijay and his latest Deepavali release. He even admitted to having watched a pirated version of Mersal online. The party’s sole problem with the film is that it contains dialogues critical of PM Narendra Modi’s GST and digital India initiatives.
