Vishnu Vishal-Amala Paul Starrer ‘Ratsasan’ Is IMDB’s Top Ranked Tamil Film; Third In Indian Movies

Actors Vishnu Vishal and Amala Paul starrer Ratsasan has yet another feather in its cap. The film which was a huge hit when it released in 2018, also bagged awards at several festivals including the Los Angeles Film Awards and Los Angeles Theatrical Release Competition & Awards 2019.

The latest is that the film is now ranked 1 in the IMDB movie rankings for Tamil films, and ranks 3rd for Indian films.  IMDB is an online movie portal where viewers across the world vote for their favourite movies. It is noteworthy that in 2018, Ratsasan was rated as IMDB’s second-best Indian film and South India’s top-ranked film.

The Tamil crime-thriller helmed by director Ramkumar of Mundasupatti fame and bankrolled by G Dilli Babu‘s Axess Film Factory revolved around a serial killer on the hunt for young girls. Vishnu Vishal played a wannabe filmmaker who becomes a police officer and tries to solve the case based on his knowledge from films. Ratsasan had music by Ghibran, cinematography by PV Shankar, and editing by San Lokesh.

Producer G Dilli Babu honoured by the reception for the film says that the success belongs to every member of the team. “I embarked on my journey as a producer 3 years ago with a passion for creating the best movies. Accordingly, Ratsasan quenched this thirst by exceeding my expectations. Such perpetual rewards boost my confidence and push me towards producing and presenting more such quality films. I thank director Ramkumar, Vishnu Vishal, Amala Paul, PV Shankar, San Lokesh, Saravanan, Ghibran, and everyone in the crew.”

The rest of the team has also expressed their happiness on Twitter. They also thanked fans for the same.

The film was also remade in Telugu as Rakshasudu by Ramesh Varma with Bellamkonda Sreenivas and Anupama Parameswaran in the lead roles. While Vishnu Vishal announced earlier that the Hindi remake rights of the film have been bagged by him, further announcements haven’t been made. Rumour has it that Ayushmann Khurrana might reprise the role of Vishnu in the remake.

Ratsasan also starred Munishkanth, Saravanan, Kaali Venkat, Ammu Abirami, and several others in important roles.
