Vivekh Plays The Doctor In The ‘Vicky Donor’ Tamil Remake Starring Harish Kalyan

Vivek At The 'Vellai Pookal' Press Meet

Actor and comedian Vivekh is on board Dharala Prabhu, the Tamil remake of Vicky Donor, starring Harish Kalyan in the lead. Vivekh plays a doctor in this film, reprising the character played to great effect by Annu Kapoor in the Hindi original.

The actor announced the news on Twitter and said he was happy to be part of the team. He told Silverscreen he has started shooting for the film.

Harish Kalyan also welcomed him to the team.

The film is directed by Krishna Marimuthu, the Telugu director who made the Naga Chaitanya-starrer Yuddham Sharanam in 2017. Harish Kalyan reprises the role of Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead. The actor reprising Yami Gautam’s role from the original is not known yet.

Vicky Donor was a small budget film by Shoojit Sircar that opened to a successful run at the box-office. It was a romantic comedy written by Juhi Chaturvedi, and starred Ayushmann as a man in Delhi who decides to donate sperm to make money, after he meets a doctor (Annu Kapoor) running a fertility clinic. Yami Gautam plays his wife in the film.

The story was inspired by the 2011 Canadian movie Starbuck. Vicky Donor released in April 2012 in around 750 screens in India and also won the 60th National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. The film was later remade in Telugu with the title Naruda Donoruda, starring Sumanth and Pallavi Subhash in the lead.

Actor Harish Kalyan is currently busy with the Sanjay Bharathi’s Dhanusu Raasi Neyargale with Rhea Chakraborty, Reba Monica John, Muniskanth Ramadoss, Pandiyarajan and others. It is reported that he is also part of Chimbu Devan’s new film Kasada Thabara, but this is yet to be confirmed.

Vivekh was last seen in the lead in Vellai Pookkal, directed by Vivek Elangovan. His upcoming film is the Vijay and Nayanthara starrer Thalapathy 63, directed by Atlee.
