Filmmakers Karthick Naren and Gautham Menon have had a face-off on Twitter. In a tweet that was seemingly aimed at Karthick Naren, Menon, while sharing Fully Filmy’s recent CSK video last evening, made remarks about ‘young filmmakers who whine instead of growing a pair’.

While some young filmmakers whine about their passion getting butchered instead of growing a pair, here’s a young team that makes an interesting short about girls, women, cricket, CSK and liberation. What a https://t.co/dseipSKVrF very nicely done!— Gauthamvasudevmenon (@menongautham) March 27, 2018
Naren soon retaliated via another tweet, declaring that he went ahead with the collaboration [Naren’s Naragasooran is bankrolled by Menon’s Ondraaga Entertainment] despite hearing a lot of negative things about him.
While everybody advised against it I had the pair to trust you & collaborate sir. In return we were treated like trash & made to invest on our own. I think its better to whine & confront instead of running away. Please don’t do this to any other young filmmaker sir. It hurts! https://t.co/05b4v7eSXg

The face-off began when Naren took to Twitter on Monday, and spoke about ‘misplaced trust’ and ‘passion getting butchered’ without mentioning names.
Sometimes a misplaced trust may kill you. People should think twice before taking it for a ride. The last thing you want to see is your passion getting butchered from all the directions for a mistake you did not commit. Threshold!

Reports suggest that the tweets point to funding issues pertaining to Naragasooran, which is directed by Naren, and bankrolled by Menon’s Ondraaga Entertainment. Sources in the industry also claim that there have been many instances where Gautham Menon has withheld payment or simply delayed them, and Naren’s complaint is not a one-off case.
A drama-thriller, Naragasooran stars Arvind Swamy, Shriya Saran, Indrajith, Aathmika, and Sundeep Kishan. The film might release in May this year.
Silverscreen is trying to get in touch with Naren and Menon to gain perspective.
