Yami Gautam Cannot Stop Talking About Her Acting Makeover for Sarkar 3

Bollywood actress Yami Gautam has expressed her excitement about her intense performance in Sarkar 3. Again. The actress, who forayed into cinema as a bubbly girl-next-door in Vicky Donor and played several such roles in other Hindi and Tamil films, has been pretty vocal about her new role and wouldn’t stop plugging it in every interview.

She owes it all to Kaabil, she claims. Perhaps she is done with such roles, considering in Kaabil she played a blind girl who was brutally raped, and yet be all giggly and happy in it before the writers killed her off in the first half.

“Both Kaabil and Sarkar 3 are extremely different from each other. While, in Kaabil, I played a visually impaired yet a lively and fun loving character, with Sarkar 3, I will get to explore a very different side; more intense, more strong. It’s very exciting,” she told Hindustan Times

A source close to the actress revealed something which entirely corroborates our theory. “Yami has been consciously choosing films ever since she played a role in Kaabil. “Yami is looking forward to exploring a new side to herself. Yami has an intense, serious, action-packed role in Ram Gopal Varma’s next film. This is a first for her and she is extremely excited to venture into territory,” the source told HT

Just last week the actress confessed about being apprehensive about playing a negative character, but shrugged it off after a bit of convincing from the makers. “The moment I was approached, even I had this question, ‘why me?’. The casting director then said that they have all seen me as the pretty and happy-go-lucky girl, so they wanted me to see how it feels to hold a gun and shoot. I still had my apprehensions,” she said.

Sarkar 3 by Ram Gopal Varma is loosely based on the life of late politician Bal Thackeray. Sarkar was first released in 2005 in which Amitabh Bachchan’s character had a Godfather-like avatar to it. The second Sarkar film was released in 2008, with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan playing a role in it.

In Sarkar 3 Amitabh reprises his role of the Maharashtrian politican Subhash Nagre. The film also stars Manoj Bajpayee, Jackie Shroff, Ronit Roy, and Amit Sadh. Music is composed by Pritam Chakraborty. The film is slated for a mid-March release.
