Brinda: Trisha-Starrer is a Crime Investigation Web Series Based on Current Events

Brinda, the upcoming SonyLIV web series through which actor Trisha Krishnan will be making her web series debut, will revolve around a crime investigation, a source close to the project told Silverscreen India on condition of anonymity.

The web series was officially launched and announced by the makers on Friday on the occasion of Dusshera.

Speaking to Silverscreen India, the source said “The genre is crime investigation and team has been working with SonyLIV for a couple of years for the project. The production will start soon, towards the end of this month and the team has been working on the pre-production for the past two months. The series will be completed probably by January or February, next year.”

The source said that the team will be traveling across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for shooting.

“It is based on current events from India. It spans across different time periods and covers happenings, important milestones and cultural nuances, in its storyline. Though it is rooted in Telugu, the idea of the story is pan-Indian. It is not a routine crime drama,” the source added. The source also said that the web series and its characters have the potential to create spin-offs.

Produced by production designer Avinash Kolla and his brother Ashish Kolla under the &Stories production banner, the series is written and directed by debutant filmmaker Surya Vangala, who has previously worked under directors Hanu Raghavapudi and Sekhar Kammula. Padmavathi Malladi has co-written the screenplay along with Vangala, while Jay Krishna has written the dialogues. Dinesh K Babu is the cinematographer of the film.

On casting Trisha, the source said “She was the first choice. Trisha’s versatility and ability to pick up nuances and subtilities, make her a good fit for the character.”

The film also features Sai Kumar, Amani, Indrajith Sukumaran, Ravindra Vijay, and Anand Saami in pivotal roles.

Brinda will release on SonyLIV in the first half of 2022.
