Sony Pictures Networks India has appointed Sreedhar Reddy Komalla, Telugu director and film producer, as the Head of Telugu Content for its streaming platform SonyLIV, the company announced in a press release on Wednesday.
The announcement comes days after the streaming platform appointed Tamil film producer and author G Dhananjayan as its Head of Tamil Content.
According to the statement from Sony, in his new role, Komalla will primarily focus on “leading the expansion plans of the Telugu vertical of SonyLIV for users across markets.”
“At SonyLIV, Madhura Sreedhar Reddy will be responsible for bolstering the Telugu content library. With long-standing experience across verticals of the Telugu industry, Reddy will oversee the development plans of the platform in the region,” the press release said.
“My role here is to extend SonyLIV’s footprint in the Telugu market and churn out homegrown content which caters to users across geographies,” Komalla said in a statement.
Komalla, who is also known as Madhura Sreedhar Reddy, is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from NIT (National Institute of Technology), Warangal. After completing MS (Research) from IIT (Indian Institute of Technology), Madras and receiving a Gold Medal for his thesis, Komalla worked for multinational companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, and Tech Mahindra for nearly 11 years. Post this, he left his IT job to pursue a career in the film industry.

Komalla started his film career by establishing the music label Madhura Audio. He later switched to filmmaking and made his directorial debut with Sneha Geetham, a 2010 Telugu musical drama starring actors Sundeep Kishan and Suhani Kalita in the lead roles. Komalla has directed, produced, and distributed several “concept-based movies” in the past 10 years, the press release added.
Ashish Golwalkar, Head, Content, SonyLIV and Sony Entertainment Television, said in a statement, “Reddy brings with him a diversified experience that will help us chart out growth for Telugu content and offer captivating stories of India to our audience across genres.”
Komalla is an active member of various Telugu filmmakers’ associations including the Telugu Film Directors Association, the Telugu Producers Council, and the Active Telugu Film Producers Guild.
