What’s New This Week: 10 Movies and Shows Releasing on OTT Platforms This Week

It’s a new week and that means there is a new set of movies and shows waiting to be released on OTT platforms.

Here’s a list of 10 movies and series that will be releasing on Netflix, Zee5, MX Player, Disney Plus Hotstar and Discovery Plus this week from January 21 to January 27.

1. The White Tiger – Netflix (January 22)
Starring Adarsh Gourav, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Rajkummar Rao, The White Tiger is based on Aravind Adiga’s Man Booker Prize-winning novel by the same name. The story is about an ambitious driver of a rich Indian family who uses his wit to rise above the ranks.

2. Fate: The Winx Club – Netflix (January 22)
A live-action remake of the popular Italian animated series of the same name, Fate: The Winx Club is about six fairies who “turn into real teenagers learning to hone their powers while living together in a magic boarding school”.

3. Jeet Ki Zid – Zee5 (January 22)
This Zee5 original action thriller series is based on a true story. The show, starring Amit Sadh, Amrita Puri and Sushant Singh, tells the “inspiring tale of a soldier whose never give up attitude helps him overcome tough challenges and turn the impossible into possible”.

4. Aapkey Kamrey Mein Koi Rehta Hai – MX Player (January 22)
Aapkey Kamrey Mein Koi Rehta Hai, starring Swara Bhasker in the lead, is a horror comedy series. The show, according to MX Player, is about “four bachelor friends” who “are ecstatic when they find a 4-BHK flat at a measly rent in a city like Mumbai” but later find out they will have to share the apartment with a ghost.

5. Riverdale Season 5
According to Netflix, in Season 5 of Riverdale, “while navigating the troubled waters of sex, romance, school and family, Archie and his gang become entangled in a dark Riverdale mystery”. The first episode of the show will premiere on Netflix on January 21.

6. Pixar Popcorn
Pixar Popcorn is a slew of eight new animated mini shorts based on iconic Pixar characters. The shorts will feature characters from films including Toy Story, Soul, The Incredibles and Cars.

7. Busted Season 3– Netflix (January 22)
Busted is a South Korean film and a “new type of K-variety where seven main cast members position themselves as bumbling detectives that set out to solve a fun-filled mystery in each of the episodes”, according to Netflix.

8. Mission Frontline – Discovery Plus
Featuring actor-producer Rana Daggubati, Mission Frontline according to its makers highlights the life of the Border Security Force, the frontline heroes fighting at the border to keep the country safe. Daggubati will be seen performing the tasks of a jawan, including physical training routines, running drill with weapons and fireman’s lift, a press release issued by makers said. “In the special episode, Rana Daggubati will experience first-hand, the difficult life of a BSF Jawan and live with the border men at the Murar Post, Jaisalmer,” the release added.

9. Snowpiercer Season 2 – Netflix (January 22)
Based on director Bong Joon-ho’s Korean-Czech film of the same name, Snowpiercer is a post-apocalyptic thriller series that according to Netflix is set “seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland” and “centers on the remnants of humanity, who inhabit a gigantic, perpetually-moving train that circles the globe”.

10. Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous – Netflix (January 22)
The animated series is about six teens invited to attend a state-of-the-art adventure camp on Isla Nublar who must band together to survive when the dinosaurs break out of captivity.
