Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum Trailer Review

The teaser of Nalan Kumarasamy’s Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum was an interesting watch by itself, thanks to the foot-tapping Santhosh Narayanan number playing in its background. Now, the trailer of the film is out, and it is equally impressive.

Nalan’s first feature film, Soodhu Kavvum (2013), was genuinely wacky and funny, and by the looks of this trailer, Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum/KaKaPo seems to be no different. The trailer begins with Vijay Sethupathi, dressed in formal suit, explaining to two executives a weird recipe involving ‘Mosa Mosa‘ keera (spinach) and Tulsi leaves!

The film is an official remake of a Korean film, My Dear Desperado. The question of whether Vijay Sethupathi is really a ‘rowdy’ is raised in this film too. The female lead, Madonna Sebastian, is seen asking what made Kadhir (Sethupathi) get hurt very often, to which he replies “It’s natural that gangsters get hurt once in a while”. Madonna (better known as ‘Celine’ after her stint in Premam) seems to be at ease with her role. She plays a modern girl, working in an IT firm. Actor Samuthirakani makes a brief appearance in the trailer. However, the video doesn’t spill the beans on the role he plays in the movie.

Directed by Nalan Kumarasamy, the film has Vijay Sethupathi, Madonna Sebastian and Samuthirakani in the lead roles. The technical team of Soodhu Kavvum, including composer Santhosh Narayanan, editor Leo John Paul and cinematographer Dinesh Krishnan, are retained for this film as well. Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum releases on the 19th of March.
