Tamil poet and lyricist Piraisoodan turns 63 today.
He began his career as the lyricist of ‘Rasathi Rosapoove’ for Chirai in 1985, and wrote songs for Thayagam, En Rasavin Manasile and Neeyum Naanum. ‘Aattama Therottama’ from Captain Prabhakaran and ‘Sola Pasunkiliye’ from En Rasavin Manasile, which won him the state’s Best Lyric Writer Award, are among his best. He is also known for his ability to write a full song in just a few minutes.
As a tribute to him, our song of the day is the hit ‘Kalakalakkum Mani Osai’ from the 1991 film Eeramaana Rojavae. Composed by Ilaiyaraaja, the song rendered by Mano and S Janaki is about all that changes when two people are in love.
