The trailer of director Priyadarshan’s Oppam, starring Mohanlal, is out. The actor portrays a blind man in this movie produced by his Ashirwad Cinemas.
The theatrical trailer of Oppam was attached with Rajinikanth’s Kabali, which was released today. Mohanlal’s Ashirvad Cinemas, in association with Suresh Balaji, who is Mohanlal’s brother-in-law, is distributing Kabali in Kerala.
The 1:46 minutes long trailer, edited by director-editor Alphonse Putheran, gives a glimpse of the protagonist, played by Mohanlal. He is a doting father to a girl, played by child artiste, Meenakshi. Though blind, he is shown to possesses superior survival skills. The trailer hints that the man becomes the sole witness to a murder, and thus his life comes under threat.
Oppam also stars Renji Panicker, Chemban Vinod Jose, Aju Varghese, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Kunchan, Nedumudi Venu, Mamukkoya, Vimala Raman, Anusree, and Arjun Nandakumar in supporting roles. MK Ekambaram has handled the camera, while MS Ayyappan has done the editing. 4 Musics has composed the songs, while Ron Ethan Yohaan has done the background scores.
Mohanlal’s Ashirvad Cinemas, in association with Mohanlal’s brother-in-law, Suresh Balaji, is distributing Kabali in Kerala. The team acquired the distribution rights for a whopping Rs. 8 crores, according to a Manorama Online report. They had edged out eight high-profile contenders including Sandra Thomas and Vijay Babu’s Friday Film House.
Oppam, which is set to release during the Onam season, marks the comeback of Priyadarshan-Mohanlal partnership which has created many successful movies such as Chithram, Thenmavin Kombathu, Chandralekha and Kaakka Kuyil in the past. Their last one, a horror-thriller named Geethanjali, was not commercially successful.
