Suriya 40: Director Pandiraj Says 35% of Film’s Work Completed So Far

Suriya 40, the upcoming tentatively titled Tamil film starring Suriya in the lead role, has completed 35% of its work, the film’s director Pandiraj announced on social media on Monday.

The yet-to-be-titled film is produced by Sun Pictures and will mark the actor’s maiden collaboration with the filmmaker in a feature film. Earlier, Suriya had produced Pandiraj’s Pasanga 2 (2015) and appeared in a cameo role in it.

Sharing a few stills from the film, Pandiraj wrote on Twitter, “Dear fans, 35% of the film has been completed. The portions of the film made so far have come out good. The next schedule of shooting is ready to begin once the lockdown comes to an end. Our team is ready. The title of the project will be announced along with the pre-announcement. Please wait until July.”

The film will also star Sathyaraj and Priyanka Arul Mohan in prominent roles. The film’s music will be composed by D Imman.

Suriya 40 went on floors on February 15. However, the actor who tested positive for Covid-19 on February 7, could not participate in the film’s inaugural ceremony. On February 19, he tested negative for the virus and joined the sets of Suriya 40 in mid-March.

Meanwhile, Suriya, who last appeared in the 2020 Tamil drama film Soorarai Pottru, will be seen next in Netflix’s nine-part anthology Navarasa that will release in August. Suriya will feature in filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon’s segment. He also has an upcoming drama titled Vaadi Vaasal, which will be directed by Vetri Maaran marking their first collaboration. The film will be produced by Kalaippuli S Thanu, under the V Creation banner, and is based on CS Chellapa’s Vaadi Vaasal novel, which revolves around the sport of jallikattu. Suriya also has a film with Annaatthe director Siva, which will be backed by Studio Green.
