The case was registered at Thatia police station following a recent order passed by a court in Kannauj district, UP. It was based on a complaint by Amit Kumar Yadav, a resident of Sarahati village, alleging that the Facebook page named ‘Bua Babua‘ made “indecent” remarks on Akhilesh Yadav due to which his image has been tarnished.

The court directed the police to register an FIR against unnamed people under relevant provisions and probe into the matter.

Later, Zuckerberg’s name was “dropped” during the course of investigation, a senior district police official told PTI, adding that investigation was also being carried out against the administrator of the Facebook page in question.

In its order, the court had observed that “the archival evidence presented by the applicant shows that abusive language has been used in relation to the leaders of the Samajwadi Party on the Facebook page, which prima facie shows the commission of a cognizable offence.”

Kumar said he sent an application to the Superintendent of Police on May 25 through a registered post. But, due to lack of any action, he had then moved the court urging for a case to be registered.

The term Bua Babua reportedly came into being during the 2019 parliamentary election, when BSP chief Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav entered into an alliance.

On Tuesday, the Facebook page Bua Babua posted a picture of Akhilesh Yadav in two different attires, captioned: “कबीरा इस संसार में भांति भांति के लोग (Chameleons will also be scared after seeing these red cap people).”
