Actor Mime Gopi who played the role of Perumal in Pa Ranjith’s Madras will play the antagonist in Kabali. Speaking to TOI, the actor revealed little about the role, only saying that he was looking forward to working with Rajinikanth. Mime Gopi has consistently attributed his success to director Pa Ranjith, for offering him a strong role as the villain in Madras.
Mime Gopi has been running G-Mime Studio, a mime school, for over a year and has been involved in training actors in several successful films, such as in Vallinam, where he choreographed the basketball scenes. At the trailer launch of Unakkenna Venum Sollu, he said he had been offered the role of a ghost rider after the training given to the lead cast by his school.

Mime is the theatrical technique of expression without words, using movement and exaggeration. The art form appears to have worked particularly well for differently-abled children with hearing and speech impairments. Gopi’s studio also trains children from underprivileged ‘homes’ and special schools, helping them to gain recognition for their skills as well as improve in confidence, develop their body-language, and expand their ability to express themselves. One of his students, Karan, is a participant in the 2015 Paralympics, according to a Hindu report.
The actor is currently busy with 8 films in the pipeline at various stages of production, including Asurakulam, Dummy Tappasu, Udhayanidhi’s Gethu, Thiruttu Kalyanam, Papparapaam, Uriyadi and an untitled film with actor Vishal.
