Actor-producer RK Suresh, who played the role of the antagonist in this year’s Thaarai Thappattai and Marudhu, will be playing the lead in the film Thani Mugam. The film will be directed by Sajith, an associate of noted Malayalam director Shaji Kailas. Reportedly, Suresh will be playing dual roles in the film.
Suresh told Times of India that he will be playing the roles of both the hero and the villain in the film. “The two roles are different — one is positive while the other is negative,” says Suresh, who will be seen as a cop in one of these roles. He will also be seen playing the role of a cop in Udhayanidhi Stalin’s next film with director Gaurav. Suresh will be seen as a hero in two more films — Billa Pandi and Kaaka. The latter is directed by Saravana Sakthi who played Vijay Sethupathi’s brother-in-law in Dharmadurai. “It is a comedy film set against a rural backdrop,” said the actor. The actor will also be seen in Vijay starrer Bairavaa.
The Suresh-Sajith film will be produced under the actor’s banner Studio9 Productions. Before venturing into production through the 2014 film Salim, his company used to distribute several films. in 2014, Suresh was in the limelight for a much publicized dispute with Vijay sethupathi over the stalled film Vasanthakumaran. The issues were solved amicably and Suresh also produced the recent Vijay Sethupathi film Dharmadurai.
