VZ Durai Says Samuthirakani’s Role Will Be Four-Dimensional

National Award-winning actor Samuthirakani will play an unconventional character in director VZ Durai’s next film. Durai told Silverscreen that Samuthirakani’s character would have four different dimensions. His character will also be in a live-in relationship with one of the lead female characters.

Durai, who made his directorial debut with Mughavaree (2000) starring Ajith Kumar, Kadhal Sadugudu (2003) starring Vikram, Thotti Jaya (2005) starring STR, and Nepali (2008) starring Bharath, said the film (and the roles) would be new and refreshing.

“It’s a different genre and a different experience where Samuthirakani will sport four different dimensions to his character. There will be another lead actor with a similar four-dimensional role, and two female leads. It’s a tricky concept really and Samuthirakani has committed to us completely soon after he completes his other pending projects,” he says.

Durai also said that the story came to him in a short period of time with ace screenplay writer Jeyamohan joining the project. “I can assure you the climax will have your attention. It’s tense and gripping,” adds Durai. The film will begin its schedule by the end of this month.

Besides Samuthirakani, another new addition is composer Sam D Raj. Recently, Sam became the first south Indian composer to be chosen by Netflix for a music tie-up.

Meanwhile, Samuthirakani is currently shooting for Soundarya Rajinikanth’s Velaiyilla Pattadhari 2 and Thondan with Vikranth and Sunaina. He is also working on three other Tamil films and one Malayalam film.
