Ratchasan is now rated as IMDB second-best Indian film. It is ranked first in the South Indian films category,” read a press release issued by the makers of the movie. Also featured in the list are movies like 96, Mahanati and Rangsthalam.

Produced by Dilli Babu under the banner of Axess Film Factory, Ratchasan revolved around a serial killer on the hunt for young girls. Vishnu Vishal played a wannabe filmmaker who becomes a police officer and tries to solve the case based on his knowledge from films.

Also featuring Amala Paul, Kaali Venkat, Munishkanth and Ramdoss, the movie went on to become a commercial hit, and was critically appreciated. Following this, discussions around the movie’s remake rights began.

Vishnu Vishal said he had bought the movie’s Hindi rights before its release. He said he was so impressed with the script that he didn’t have to wait to know the movie’s box office performance.

“I loved the detailing that had gone into the killer’s point of view. It is narrated interestingly and there’s an emotional connect too. The best part is that there is very little violence or gore. It also has a message of sorts for young girls: be aware of what’s happening around you and stay careful,” the actor said in an interview.

It has been reported that director Sudheer Verma will be directing the Telugu version of the movie.

Following the success of Ratchasan, the makers organized an event to felicitate the actors who played antagonists in the movie. Titled “Meet The Real Ratchasans of Ratchasan,” the event saw the cast and crew being thankful to Saravanan for making Ratchasan ‘what it has become’. Saravanan played the main villain Christopher in the film.
