Several Hindi films including Kedarnath and Thappad, are set to re-release after cinema halls reopen on October 15, post a seven-month pause due to the Covid-10 pandemic and subsequent lockdown.
And the film gives up the opportunity to be a smart disaster drama. There are instances where Mansoor and a few others in the valley raise their concerns about the illegal constructions in the ecologically-fragile valley, but the film uses the natural calamity as one of the tools to narrate the tragic love story. The cloudburst and the lovers’ fate are foreshadowed in a crucial scene where the couple seeks refuge inside a cave atop a mountain on a rainy day.
The Uttarakhand Government has reportedly decided to ban the recently released Kedarnath in order to maintain law and order in the State. Minister of Tourism for the state, Satpal Maharaj, told ANI that the matter has been forwarded to the Chief Minister for necessary action.

KriArj Entertainment, founded and headed by Prernaa Arora, has hinted that the “unprofessional” and “disorganised” way of handling the production by Abhishek’s company, Guy In The Sky Pictures, was the real reason for severing ties.

While it makes little sense to point out logical errors in a film as silly as this, one can’t help but mention the scene where Gautam, on a professional assignment, divulges the issues in his married life to an illegal immigrant in an interrogation room. The subject of illegal immigration gets a bizarre representation in Shiddat, a Hindi language film written by Shridhar Raghavan and Dheeraj Kedarnath Rattan, and directed by Kunal Deshmukh.
It is absurd that Rani, who cited amatory skills as one of her special talents in her first meeting with Rishi, cannot handle sexual tension gracefully or express her desires like a rational human being in the initial days of marriage.Unlike Manmarziyaan, which Dhillion scripted and Pannu acted in, Haseen Dillruba doesn’t attempt to explore the fatality of not being able to fall in or out of love.
Sushant Singh Rajput, the late Hindi actor who first became known for his role as ‘Manav’ in the popular Hindi soap opera Pavitra Rishta, and later ventured into the film industry to star in hits like M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, Kedarnath, Chhichhore, Kai Po Che, among several others, died by suicide on June 14, 2020.
Interestingly, the film begins with a celebration which is quickly marred by an earthquake and transforms into debris; like it were a lesson to Lala for his hubris; for believing that human effort alone can make life better. It occurred to me only after I finished watching the film that Waqt could have been based in Balochistan or Peshawar or the environs around.
The glacial burst that took place in Uttarakhand on February 7 reportedly left 19 persons dead.
