According to ANI, Kohli gave ambiguous answers during the questioning and was taken to custody at the NCB office. He is expected to be presented before a city court on Sunday.

He has been arrested under sections 21(a), 27(a), 28, 29, 30, & 35 of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

The actor appeared in the film Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo and was also a contestant on Bigg Boss during the reality show’s seventh season in 2013. During his time on the show, he was arrested for physically abusing his co-contestant Sofia Hayat. He was released on bail the following day.

According to a report by NDTV, a team from the anti-drugs agency had intercepted Ajay Raju Singh for illegal possession of drugs and after preliminary interrogation, they launched a follow-up operation on Kohli.

Kohli’s arrest is the second one that the agency has made in the last couple of days. Earlier on Friday, Hindi film and television actor Gaurav Dixit was arrested in connection to possession of drugs. The agency has been on the lookout for Dixit since April after his name cropped up during actor Ajaz Khan’s interrogation earlier. He was on the run after he discovered that NCB officials were on their way to raid his house in Lokhandwala area in Mumbai.

Kohli and Dixit’s arrest is a part of NCB’s drug probe on many Hindi film personalities. They started it after actor Sushant Singh Rajput died by suicide on June 14, 2020. The agency has either summoned or sent notices to several actors and celebrities including Deepika Padukone, Karan Johar, Rhea Chakraborty, Arjun Rampal, Rakul Preet Singh, and Sara Ali Khan.
