Aamir Khan gave the Satyamev Jayate Water Cup Awards a miss after contracting swine flu. The event was organised by his NGO — Paani Foundation. Co-founder of the NGO and Aamir’s wife Kiran Rao too is down with swine flu.
Shah Rukh Khan covered for him at the award function which was also attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Reliance Foundation founder Neeta Ambani, and industrialist Rajiv Bajaj.
Speaking to the audience via a big screen at the event, Aamir said, “We really wanted to attend the ceremony, but recently, after a test, I was diagnosed with H1N1, that is swine flu… I have been asked to take rest and cannot go and attend any public function so I am skipping the event so that others do not contract it.”

Considering August 6 was Friendship Day, Aamir thanked the other Khan. “Since today is Friendship Day, I requested my friend Shah Rukh to attend the function on my behalf and he readily accepted.”
