The Madurai Bench of Madras High Court has stayed all further proceedings in a maintenance case filed by an elderly couple from Melur who claim that actor Dhanush is their biological son. This comes after a lawyer representing the couple – Kathiresan and Meenakshi, filed a fresh petition in court last week asking for a DNA test to be conducted.
According to a report in The Hindu, the judge presiding over the case found it ‘unfair’ on the part of the couple’s counsel to have not filed a sub-application for a DNA test all these days. As the judge’s tenure on the bench ends on March 9, he has post-poned hearing till that date.

Justice G. Chockalingam is also believed to have said, “You argue the case before my successor. There is no time for me to hear the case. I have only one more day left here.”
Dhanush is widely believed to be the son of filmmaker Kasthuri Raja. In their petition, Kathiresan and Meenakshi allege that Dhanush (born Saravana Prabhu) was their third son, who ran away from his school hostel to pursue his film aspirations. They allege that Dhanush worked as a domestic help at Kasthuri Raja’s home, and was acknowledged as their son only after the actor found success with Thulluvadho Ilamai.
