The Mumbai police have detained two persons in connection with Kritika Chaudhary’s murder, and are interrogating them. Early reports indicate that the Police suspect sexual assault.
The security guard of the apartment building in which Kritika lived, and a male friend of hers, are both now in police custody, according to a report in DNA.
Indian Express also reports that the police think Kritika’s ex husband, Vijay Dwivedi, may have had a role in the murder, and are investigating. Dwivedi has a criminal record and was arrested for duping people by posing as the son of Congress leader Janardhan Dwivedi.
Kritika’s family – her brother Deepak and her mother – have been in touch with the police. Deepak said that Kritika and Vijay had been married briefly, but later divorced in 2012 when it became known that Vijay was an impostor.

A report in the Mid-Day says that Deepak had last spoken to his sister on June 7, and while they couldn’t speak to her after that, they didn’t suspect any foul play. He said, “I don’t suspect anyone in particular, but in a safe city like Mumbai, it’s come as a shock that someone entered her flat, murdered her, and then, locked the door and left without anybody coming to know. However, I do believe in the capability of the Mumbai police… and expect them to crack the case at the earliest.”
