Speculations about actor Ajith Kumar donating Rs 5 crore for cyclone Gaja relief was denied by the actor’s spokesperson on Monday.
As reported earlier, distributor Siva participated in a meeting organized in Salem to discuss a grand release for Ajith’s film Viswasam. Speaking at the event he said, “People say that Ajith sir has given Rs 15 lakh to the government for the relief work. But actually Ajith sir has donated Rs 5 crore for the relief measures. He will not reveal the help he has done, because that is his character. I know him personally. He will never advertise himself or do anything for publicity.”
After the video of Siva speaking at the event went up online, fans of the actor made the news viral and started sharing posts appreciating Ajith’s gesture.
Following this, in a recent update, a spokesperson for the actor said that he hadn’t donated such a huge amount. “All the donations made by Ajith sir will be announced only either through his Public Relation people or by the people who he have helped. It is saddening to see the spreading of such fake news online which deals with emotions,” he said.
Earlier, in the government released list of the names of people who donated for cyclone Gaja relief, actor Ajith was said to have donated Rs 15 lakh. But not many details about this were shared by Ajith’s fans, unlike other actors and their fans who had carried relief work through fan clubs and associations.
