As reported by Silverscreen earlier, Cadaver is based on true events and involves a real-life case handled by former Kerala Police surgeon Dr B. Umadathan.

A report quotes Abhilash Pillai, the scriptwriter of the movie, who said that the movie would probably be the first in India to have a forensic surgeon as the protagonist. “Amala Paul plays the role of Dr. Bhadra, who is the chief police surgeon in Tamil Nadu.”

About Dr B. Umadathan, Pillai says “He was like a mentor for us while researching and writing the script. He has been pivotal in the investigations for thousands of cases in his career including the Abhaya case and is still being consulted after his retirement. Anoop and I discussed the story with him for almost six months. We even went to the medical college to see the work of the forensic surgeons before scripting.”

While admitting that the director and he had worked on the script for close to two years, Pillai says that almost 60% of the technicians have been the ones who worked on Ratsasan. Interestingly, Amala Paul was also part of the movie and had played the female lead.

About his decision to make the film in Tamil, the director says “I did my filmmaking course in Chennai and had also assisted a few debutant directors in the Tamil film industry. So this was the natural route.”

The film is jointly produced by AJ Films and White Screen Media.

Meanwhile, Amala Paul has a slew of projects in the pipeline. The actress recently wrapped up the shoot for Aadai. She also finished dubbing for debutante KR Vinoth’s Adho Andha Paravai Pola. The actress will be seen doing stunts in the movie.

She will be also featured in the upcoming Malayalam movie Aadujevitham opposite Prithviraj.
