Speculations on the star cast of Sundar C’s magnum opus film tentatively titled Sangamitra continues. While it was believed that actors with a pan-India appeal would be chosen, actors Jayam Ravi and Arya are said to be in talks to star in the film.
The producer, Murali of Thenandal films said, “Yes, we are in talks with Arya and Jayam Ravi, but nothing is official yet. The rest of the cast is yet to be finalised.” Reports suggest that the film team is also trying to rope in a Bollywood actress for the tri-lingual film (Hindi, Tamil and Telugu). Actors Suriya, Vikram and Vijay were a few names that were doing the rounds earlier.
Other big names part of the film are music director A R Rahman and art director Sabu Cyril of Enthiran fame. Resul Pookutty and cinematographer Sudheep Chatterjee are also a part of this mega budget film. This movie marks the 100th production of Sri Thenandal films. The production company has previously worked with the director in successful ventures like Aranmanai and Aranmanai 2.

Sangamithra is rumoured to be the most expensive film in the Indian industry. It is expected to beat the cost of Baahubali and Endhiran. Sundar C said that the cast will have a number of stars, along with a prominent south Indian actor in the lead.
The movie will go on the floors only in March 2017, owing to the extensive pre-production work it requires. The movie is likely to be completed only in 2019. Tamil writer Prapanchan, who won the Sahitya Akademi award for his novel Vaanam Vasappadum, has written the story.
