Director Bejoy Nambiar, known for Bollywood films like Wazir and David, will make his Malayalam debut soon. Reportedly, actor Dulquer Salman will play the male lead in Bejoy’s film, which might go on floors next month.
A Deccan Chronicle quoted Bejoy as saying, “Yes, my next film will be in Malayalam. It has been my dream to do a film in my mother tongue since a few years. Now, I am ready with the project. Dulquer Salmaan will be the lead.”
The film will be produced by Bejoy’s own banner Getaway films, in association with Abaam films. This will be the seventh production venture of Getaway films. Nambiar told Deccan Chronicle that the film will deal with a theme that has not been done in Malayalam before.
Though it is his very first feature film in the language, Bejoy has directed two Malayalam short films before – Rahu in 2008, and a silent short film, Reflections, in which Mohanlal played the lead role.

After the release of Wazir (2015), Bejoy had begun working on the Hindi remake of Mani Ratnam’s Tamil hit Agni Natchathiram. Actors Vicky Kaushal and Dhanush were supposed to reprise the roles made famous by Karthik Muthuraman and Prabhu Ganesan. However, the remake has now been shelved as Dhanush dates were clashing with his other projects.
