Actors Dileep and Kavya Madhavan were married this morning at a hotel in Kochi. The two have been friends and colleagues for a long time. The function was modest and attended by the duo’s close friends and relatives. A reception will be held in Dubai for the film fraternity soon, a source close to Dileep said.

Dileep (48), one of the leading stars and producers in Malayalam cinema, was earlier married to actress-danseuse Manju Warrior. Their marriage ended in 2014, after which Manju returned to films as a lead actress. Kavya Madhavan debuted as a lead actress with Chandranudikkunna Dikkil (1999) in which she was paired opposite Dileep. The duo went on to act together in 21 films. Most of their films were commercial successes. In 2016, they played the leads in Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s Pinneyum, a critically acclaimed film.
This is Kavya’s second marriage as well. In 2009, she had married Nishal Chandra, a Kuwait-based banker. They were divorced a year later. Subsequently, she returned to films with Paappi Appacha, a movie produced by and starring Dileep.
Over the years, there have been several rumours linking the two actors romantically. At the time, there was even speculation that the affair between the two was the reason why Dileep and Manju’s marriage ended.
